Cricket and 6th Form Studies an opportunity…

December 6, 2012

Dear Club

For the last 3 years we have been working with the Portslade Aldridge Community Academy (PACA) and Brighton Aldridge Community Academy (BACA) to assist them in their vision of establishing cricket as a specialism within the schools. This has since resulted in the development of the Aldridge Cricket Academy (ACA), aimed at providing a unique cricketing and educational experience. We are very lucky in Sussex that there are a number of excellent sixth form providers in both the independent and state sector but please feel free to take a look at ACA’s prospectus as it may be of interest to some of your junior players:

Do you have players looking at 6th Form options?

·        Do you want to:

·        Play professional cricket but don’t want to miss out on qualifications along the way?

·        Build a career in cricket coaching, sports science, psychology, management or teaching?

·        Go into a sports related business using your cricket and entrepreneurial skills?

·        Or simply want to develop your cricket skills whilst getting your academic qualifications?

The Aldridge Cricket Academy gives male and female cricketers the chance to develop your sporting talent and academic qualifications together, rather than having to choose between the two

The Aldridge Cricket Academy (ACA) is a unique partnership between the Sussex Cricket Board, supported by Sussex County Cricket Club, Brighton Aldridge Community Academy and its sister school, Portslade Aldridge Community Academy. It provides intensive coaching programmes for men and women cricketers, delivered by a dedicated coaching team consisting of E.C.B. qualified specialist coaches.

Working with the sixth forms at both academy schools, we are launching an integrated Cricket and A Level programme for talented male and female cricketers starting their sixth form studies in September 2013. If you know young players who you think may be interested in this option, the Academy would be delighted to tell you more and talk to players and their families about considering this sixth form option.

ACA training programmes are individually tailored to suit the needs of every cricketer such as, using methods endorsed by Sussex CCC, and include the use of state of the art equipment BOLA bowling and fielding machines. ACA is committed to establishing strong links with local clubs and where players already play club or representative cricket. They will work alongside you to ensure that student ACA experience compliments their representative cricket.
