West Area Training Squads..Update

November 25, 2012

As we approach the end of the 8 week programme, I felt it important, to thank all the coaches for their hard work, enthusiasm and expert tuition. The progress of our players has been very encouraging, also,  feedback from players and parents has been very positive.

Thanks also to all our young players who have attended in great numbers matched by their enthusiasm for cricket.

The question being asked, ” What happens next”?

The Sussex County Coaches will be selecting the players from Area squads to attend, what is called, ‘half County trials’. Letters will be sent from the County administrator, directly to the players. The half county trials, take place during January, at The Probiz County Ground Hove.

We will publish a full list of trialists, when letters have been received.

At the conclusion of the trials the County Squads will be finalised.

At that time, Area’s will notified and in a position to confirm the West Warrior Playing Squads for the 2013 Season. Players who attend half county trials and return to Area, are automatically selected for the Area Squads.

During the January/February period, The Area will be offering Development training, on a non selective basis, open to all young players in the area.. Full details will follow shortly.

Our squads for next season, will be U10, U11 single  age group squads.

U12/13 and U14/15 double age group squads.

Total squad numbers are normally 14-15 players. The double age group squads are a 50% split of both age groups. Squads selected,  reflect a balance of cricketing skills, required to play representative cricket.

Squad training normally commences, in February and runs for 8 weeks, we look to include outdoor training sessions, as we approach the season.

Squad Coaches and Managers, will be notified early in the new year.

I hope that explains the process, if you have any questions, then please ask any of the coaches, when you attend the final training sessions.

U13’s. WE are aware that this age group require a further session of training, (due to the power cut), this will hopefully be arranged and notified very shortly.
